Home Decor: Fall Decor 2017

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! Reed and I had our second weekend at home in a long time and it was very nice and relaxing. We relaxed a lot, watched new movies, watched football, had our friend John over for dinner, and just enjoyed our weekend together.

Even though the weather isn't so much "fall" like yet, and it was extremely hot in Nashville all weekend (yuck) haha! I thought I would go ahead and share my Fall decor on the inside of our house with you. Last week, I got our fall porch together and now have the inside the way I want as well. I decided to use a lot darker/deeper colors in my fall decor this year.

My go-to color right now for accessories, tops, and also my home decor is a deep wine/maroon color. I am loving it! Luckily I am finding several great pieces in this color this year. I  chose wine colored mums for the outside and carried this on throughout the inside as well in my flowers and several small details such as books or fabrics to tie it altogether.

The pieces that make up my fall decor come from: Kirklands, Joann's, Hobby Lobby, The Faded Farmhouse, Old Time Pottery, Antique stores, and The Nashville Farmer's Market.

I hope you all enjoy my Fall details for this year and I hope this gives you a little inspiration to create your own displays at home. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day :) xo T

Home Decor: Fall Porch Details

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Reed and I were actually home for once (which never happens) and we decided to make the most of it and make it a productive weekend. We deep cleaned our house, cleaned out closets and our attic. Let's just say it was much needed and we are so glad to have it done.

We also had some time spent with my brother this weekend for dinner and a movie which is always fun.  As much as we love being on the road or traveling as much as we can, it's also very nice to be home. I had some time in the midst of the cleaning to go to the Nashville Farmer's Market, which is my favorite! They have all of their Fall seasonal goods and pumpkins that came in and I wanted to get an early start and the best pick of pumpkins :) As you all know, between Fall and Winter I just get so excited about these two seasons. From decorating, baking, festivals, and so much more it's just the best time of year.

I thought it would be fun to start out my Fall decor with the front porch area. I loaded up on pumpkins and used a few larger pieces I already had to make it work. I hope you are enjoying your day and hope this gives you a little inspiration for your Fall decor! Now, we just need the weather to cool down some more and we are set :) Enjoy the details of our front porch. More coming this week on the inside decor! xo

Also, thank you Dad for painting our front door! I wanted to lighten it up from the chocolate brown that it was to a lighter grey to match the stone in our home! Thanks Dad :)

recipe: holy fudge black bean brownies

Yes, I know what you are saying right now... Ew black beans in brownies? Yes! Coming from someone who doesn't even like black beans and just made them for my husband, they are so good! Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Labor day weekend, long weekend that is. Reed and I went to Memphis for the weekend to visit his family and had such a good weekend with them. We got back on Sunday night and I had all day on Monday to catch up, be productive, and get creative.

I made these black bean brownies last week from my most recent obsession. Do you follow Laura Lea Balanced? If you don't and if you want healthy recipes especially for those of you who need gluten-free, dairy free, vegan, or vegetarian recipes.. this is your gal! She is based in Nashville and I have followed her blog and social medias for awhile but recently ordered her cookbook and have been blown away by super healthy dishes & desserts with really clean ingredients that actually taste really good!! It's been exciting but also very inspiring to mix up something new and actually good for us.

I will tell you, I don't even like black beans; but Reed loves them. He wanted something with chocolate and thought this recipe would be a test to see how good these were. They are truly delicious. You can't even taste the black beans at all. This recipe is great because it is dairy free & gluten free. Reed ate 3 in one night if that tells you anything haha! I wanted to share the recipe with you all from Laura Lea's cookbook.

Recipe from: Laura Lea Balanced Blog

makes 15BROWNIES
Holy fudge black bean brownies
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 15 ounce can unsalted black beans (prefer organic), drained and rinsed thoroughly
  • 6 tbsp cocoa powder (I like Ghirardelli or Trader Joe's brand)
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup, grade A
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla powder (or sub vanilla extract)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted almond butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate roughly chopped (sub chocolate chips)- dairy free chocolate if wanting DF
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and line a loaf tin with parchment paper, making sure there are at least 5 inches of parchment overflowing on each side.
  2. Combine all ingredients except chopped chocolate in a food processor or high speed blender. Puree until completely smooth, scraping down the side as needed.
  3. Empty mixture into a mixing bowl and stir in chopped chocolate/chocolate chips. Turn dough into loaf pan and shake gently to create an even layer. At this point, you can trim back some of the parchment but leave an inch or two overhanging.
  4. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with only a tiny bit of batter. Remove from oven and allow to cool at least 30 minutes before removing and slicing. If you can wait an hour the pieces will hold together better.

The natural maple is hand finished and pretreated with tung oils. The Fieldcrest is splash-proof but should not be submerged in water (3 ATM).

Lemon or orange oil extract is best for cleaning the natural wood. When storing this timepiece, avoid extremely hot, cold, and excessively dry/humid environments
